LADIES NIGHT

My soul mate, Auntie Rubina, won at bingo so she treated us to Red Lobster and Young Victoria.  We love all the same things.

Young Victoria is beautifully done.  The story is a depiction of the historical figure Queen Victoria who inherited the throne at a very young age.  Her reign of 63 years is the longest of any British or female monarch in history.  Young Victoria tells the story of her marriage to Prince Albert and the unmistakable love that existed between them.  They had 9 children together and reigned for 20 years until the death of Prince Albert wen he was only 42.  Young Victoria is beautiful to watch and pleasant to listen to.

This was a perfect evening of friendship and fun.

ROCK MY SOUL

The evening began with Coconut Crusted Mahi Mahi at The Gun Barrel then off to Tuacahn for the Gladys Knight concert. I think we were not prepared for what we experienced.

Gladys is simply glorious. She is a wonderful, gracious person. Gladys and her crew took us on a journey that started back in the sixties. She graced us with her presence in sequence and black stilettos then did her encore in slippers. Gladys performed all the greatest hits while her band backed her up...amazing musicians...she even threw in a few hits that did not belong to her and it was all absolutely wonderful.

Ninety minutes later is was over. Her exit was even more glorious than her entrance. A woman nearing 65 years of age, dancing and singing as if she was 25 all over again.

She will ROCK YOUR SOUL!

MUST SEE

Even if you do not like British Film you must see Son of Rambow. If I were Karamea I could post the youtube trailer right on my blog but since I'm not you have to click on this - http://www.sonoframbow.com/ - to check it out.

To view the film in St. George you have to go to the Red Cliffs Cinemas where the Salt Lake Film Society - http://www.saltlakefilmsociety.org/stgeorge/ - has taken over. Independent film stimulates the senses.

Son of Rambow is independent film at it's best and wonderfully entertaining. Ra is now inspired to make a movie with his boys. He thinks he is going to give them free reign of my very expensive video camera so they can make a movie. He should think again.

Without TV

Soooo I work for a television station but I don't watch TV. My GM might say that's a bit messed up but I'm quite enjoying the peace and lack of TV as an option to check out of life for a few hours.

We moved a few weeks ago and getting the TV hooked up really hasn't been a priority. Shows I want to watch I find online and shows I don't want to watch I don't find at all. Hours of running through channels only to find I am bored with TV is just not happening. Gone are the days of scrolling through 100 channels only to find "there is nothing on".

I enjoy conversation, reading and researching, surfing the waves of my brain and playing outside.

At some point my GM may tell me to make that call to "the cable/satellite guy" but for now I've discovered a whole new way to live.

Freedom from broadcast media...online the choice is mine.
