Radical Roses

Untamed roses grow frantically in gardens surrounding my house. It is fragrantly sensational.

Ammon and I went on a cutting frenzy and made a beautiful arrangement which now adorns my kitchen counter. Ammon was taken by the unique presentation of each of the varieties. We strolled and cut and talked about the day when my dad would cut fresh flowers and I would take them to my school teacher. Ammon thinks he should take a rose to his teacher tomorrow.

Everything is different at home. Ra left today. He is gone for 6 weeks. His first stop is Germany to see Isaac. The thought is thrilling. Ra gets to stay with Isaac for 5 days...I want to be there...then he heads to the Middle East for work.

So begins life in a whole new way.

SURPRISE ME!

Did I mention I work for a television station?
I spent the last couple of months promoting a local concert. DRAKE BELL came to St. George! The concert promotion was just part of my job. My boys were thrilled. They were gonna meet
Drake Bell. And meet him they did.

Drake signed some stuff but most important - HE SIGNED HAMILTON'S VIOLIN! How cool is that?

I wasn't excited at all about sitting through his concert but I have to say...I was pleasantly SURPRISED! Young, amazingly talented musicians. Playing a variety of instruments and genre's. It was an enjoyable evening with Asa and Hamilton.

My most favorite tune was - Mellow Yellow (hey I'm fourty something). I do believe he has a strong future in the music industry.

Just Breath

I arrived home from work a little before 6. Everyone was at their stuff. Only the girls are home. It's quiet.

And I was thinking - laundry - dinner - homework - bills...you know...the stuff mom's do when they can be domestic engineers all day. I realized I was all caught up.

Wow what a concept!

All of the sudden I can - go back to the gym - read a book - sew something - scrapbook - cuddle with my cat - watch a movie - go for a walk...or

JUST BREATH!

ACCEPTING CHANGE

Rakai is going to New Zealand for 3 weeks. He's traveling with his grandparents and checking things out. He plans to move there permanently in the fall and this is a precursor to that move.

Work is taking Ra to the middle east for a month. He'll make a stop in Germany to see Isaac for his birthday then travel Kuwait, the UAE, Taiwan and other places over a month. This is the first phase of a new career path. Stay tuned for more details on that.

Isaac has been gone since August! Only a few short months before he returns. There are not words to describe how excited I am for that to happen. I miss him...tons!

So as the wife and mother in all of this and after having just moved...I'm feeling a little jolted by all the immediate and unexpected changes. But change is a good thing and I'm looking at everything in a new light.

This journey will be an adventure!

EVERYONE'S SICK

I am living among germs! Almost everyone in my house is sick. Not just a little sick but really sick. Three of the seven people here are not sick. We are counting our blessings and washing our hands...alot!

Without TV

Soooo I work for a television station but I don't watch TV. My GM might say that's a bit messed up but I'm quite enjoying the peace and lack of TV as an option to check out of life for a few hours.

We moved a few weeks ago and getting the TV hooked up really hasn't been a priority. Shows I want to watch I find online and shows I don't want to watch I don't find at all. Hours of running through channels only to find I am bored with TV is just not happening. Gone are the days of scrolling through 100 channels only to find "there is nothing on".

I enjoy conversation, reading and researching, surfing the waves of my brain and playing outside.

At some point my GM may tell me to make that call to "the cable/satellite guy" but for now I've discovered a whole new way to live.

Freedom from broadcast media...online the choice is mine.

Lucky Horse

We had a horse named Lucky. He bit my mom on the back. My dad sold him. This horse is lucky...

My body aches...I called to schedule a massage...they were booked...so tomorrow afternoon...oh the agony of anticipation...

Just me and the kids for a couple of days. Ra is in Rhode Island on business.

I Should Be Sleeping...

...but I'm not.

Team night is at our house tomorrow....aaannnnd what exactly is team night?

It's the night I feed 35 soccer players and promote team unity for Friday nights game. The tradition started with Rakai and continues with Ammon. So tomorrow we're having lasagna, salad, rolls, blue jello and brownies.

Blue Jello? Dixie's colors are blue and white.

So I'm awake. The house carries the aroma of chocolate brownies, the fridge is filled with blue jello and I'm feeling really tired...

The timer beeped! The brownies are done and I'm going to bed.
