CLOSING A CHAPTER

After 5 years in television I have made my grand exit. Yesterday was my final day at KCSG Television and I am moving on.

The news came as a bit of a shock to the St. George circles I run in. I was pretty much a constant around town and came to be known as the one person at KCSG that one could really count on. But after a year without television I realized there's better causes to promote.

You may recall previous blogposts about living without TV. I have and will continue to repeat that being TVless is the greatest way to live. Everything about life is different. It is difficult to explain until you actually experience it so I'll just encourage you to try it...it's wonderful.

Where do I go from here?

Let's just say - it's time to follow my heart. Check back every now and again and I'll have all the details.

ROCK MY SOUL

The evening began with Coconut Crusted Mahi Mahi at The Gun Barrel then off to Tuacahn for the Gladys Knight concert. I think we were not prepared for what we experienced.

Gladys is simply glorious. She is a wonderful, gracious person. Gladys and her crew took us on a journey that started back in the sixties. She graced us with her presence in sequence and black stilettos then did her encore in slippers. Gladys performed all the greatest hits while her band backed her up...amazing musicians...she even threw in a few hits that did not belong to her and it was all absolutely wonderful.

Ninety minutes later is was over. Her exit was even more glorious than her entrance. A woman nearing 65 years of age, dancing and singing as if she was 25 all over again.

She will ROCK YOUR SOUL!

ARE THE LIGHTS ON

It's late. I got just back from Walmart. I've been driving around in the car almost this whole night. Asa to soccer - Hamilton for a haircut - Ammon from work - Hamilton to scouts - Ammon for a haircut - pick up Asa - Asa to piano - home to make dinner - pick up Asa - boys to the gym - myself to tanning - Asa home - pick up the boys - stop at Walmart.

We got to Walmart and Isaac went inside. I found a parking space up front but it was under the light so I put my sunglasses on. I totally forgot they were on my face and as I pulled out into the road I said, "why are the lights not on?" The lights are normally on auto so they shut off and on by themselves. I don't usually ever have to touch the dial.

I'm driving down the road looking for the light dial and when I find it I just start turning it back and forth. Ammon says, "Mom you are scaring the people." And then I realize...I'm wearing my sunglasses.

Oh my gosh...that was soooo funny...and I am sooooo tired...

TODAY IS EASTER

This Easter morning is bright and beautiful. After a few days of clouds, blue skies and sunshine are a welcome sight. The boys sleep it is quiet and peaceful and I reflect on the meaning of this day.

The atonement of our Savior makes life possible for us. His resurrection assures a place for us in Heaven if we live according to His teachings. There is a song - I'm Trying To Be Like Jesus - it should be our theme song. To live as Jesus lived, to love as Jesus loved. To be filled with peace and to live close to our Father in Heaven. This is true joy and serenity.

I have recently completed Jesus, A Journey of Enlightment by Deepak Chopra. I think it is safe to say that Deepak is not real big on the life of Jesus Christ and has a slight misunderstanding of His purpose. I have enjoyed many of the writings of Deepak Chopra but as a Christian and one who believes in the divinity of Jesus Christ, this book is not one I would recommend. To his defense, Deepak did state at the beginning that the story was merely fictional. And that fact was obvious to me as I read. So if you, as a Christian, should decide to read this book remember to rely on your relationship with your Savior and your personal inspiration to know what is truth and what is fiction.

Enjoy the beauty of the day and may you find peace within.

Happy Easter
